Amazon shuts down its Halo fitness division

Apparently, Amazon has seen enough when it comes to its Halo division.

Only a few years after its first product came out, Amazon is shutting down the fitness-focused Halo brand, The Verge reported. As of Aug. 1, all Halo devices and the Halo app will stop functioning. Per a staff email seen by The Verge, that also means there will be "role reductions" within the organization, AKA layoffs.

Amazon confirmed the news in a blog post, where it was also revealed that Halo health data will be deleted on Aug. 1 as well. Halo only ever released three products, starting with the simplistic wearable fitness tracker Halo Band in 2020. That was succeeded by Halo View a year later, while a bedside sleep tracker called Halo Rise was launched less than a year ago.

All three products have been pulled from Amazon's digital storefront already. Wearable fitness trackers are part of a very crowded marketplace, and Halo just couldn't make a dent.
